Starting Point Weekly

***Greetings and welcome to another newsletter.

I am making some changes to the newsletter that you, my all important readers have requested.

You have been saying you want it shorter and easier to read, so no problem that`s what I have done now the main getting started video training modules are finished.

For a bit of interest I am leaving in most of the headings and it`s up to you whether or not you read them but give them a try they are usually only a few lines long and often offer good tips such as the one below for example in thought for the day.

It should only take about 5-10 minutes maximum to read from beginning to end and rest assured there will be something new to learn every week to help you with your business and a few freebies thrown in along the way whenever I can.

Look out for the heading THIS WEEK at the end of each newsletter because that`s where I will put this weeks main article so you can skip straight to it if you are ever pushed for time.

This week I am giving you part one of a free course on outsourcing at the end of the newsletter, take a look and give yourself more spare time to enjoy life.

Thought For Today

How much are you worth?

I don’t mean how much are the component parts of you worth – the water and minerals that make up your body (a bit less than a dollar for the raw materials, a bit more if you could sell your working parts).

I mean how much does it say on the invisible price tag that you have hung around your neck.

$10 an hour? $100? $1000?

You are worth exactly as much as you believe you are worth.

My friend David is a joiner. He makes stuff out of wood. Recently he was asked to price up a job that he really didn’t want. Rather than turn it down, he simply double his normal rates in the hope that the customer would be put off.

The next day they were on the phone asking him how soon he could start.

THAT made David rethink how much he was worth!

Another friend (also called David, coincidentally) is a central heating installer. He told me that he normally quoted £800 to fit a new boiler, but recently has been losing jobs to other companies who charge much more.

When he started asking why he’d lost the job, the customers told him that they figured the more expensive companies would do a better job.

Dave immediately added £1000 to his standard price and has been booked solid with work ever since.

Mike is a management consultant. He recently decided to increase his hourly rate from £200 to £800. He is still billing exactly the same number of hours but his income has quadrupled – and he reports that his clients are now FAR more likely to do as he recommends.

It happens all around us. People everywhere are undervaluing their worth because they put their own value on themselves instead of the value that their clients and customers would put on them.

Take a look at the value that YOU put on yourself.

Look harder.

Now, whatever that value is, increase it. Live with it. Let that new value sink in to your subconscious.

Then go out into the world and show them what you’re worth.

Dale Carnegie said,

“The ideas I stand for are not mine. I borrowed them from Socrates. I swiped them from Chesterfield. I stole them from Jesus. And I put them in a book. If you don’t like their rules, whose
would you use?”

Steven Covey wrote:

‘As proactive people, we can carry our own physical or social weather with us. We can be happy and accept those things that at present we can’t control, while we focus our efforts on the things that we can.’

This Week’s Quick Tip

In an age where dress codes are becoming more relaxed, be very careful that you don’t cross the line from ‘casual’ to ‘insulting’. In the ebb and flow of business relationships, respect is very important to maintain.

The best, and most subtle way of demonstrating respect for your boss, your client and yourself, is to always take care about your appearance.

Are you tired of trying to do everything yourself in your business?
You are creating your own products, setting up your own websites, trying to get web traffic, and managing your own affiliate program. Pfshew! No wonder you’re going crazy.

Successful business owners, do NOT do everything themselves. Find out how you can begin to outsource parts of your business — where to find people and how to be able to afford their help.

Your Most Common Outsourcing Questions Answered
Grow Your Business with Less of a Workload

In Today’s Lesson…

What is Outsourcing Anyway?
Hello and welcome to the Outsourcing Explained Course.

Over the next few issues my goal is to help you create a more profitable and less stressful business. Sounds good doesn’t it?
So, what are we waiting for?

Let’s get started. We both know that the best place to start is at the beginning, of course. Today we’re going to find out exactly what outsourcing is.

Outsourcing is the act of contracting out business tasks to someone else for completion. Outsourcing is a way for business owners, like you, to:
• Get more done in your business.
• Save time and money.
• And more…

There’s a common misconception about outsourcing that needs to be cleared up while we’re on the subject. Many think that outsourcing involves sending work to people in other countries who work for pennies and perform the work below standard.

That’s not what we’re talking about here. There are ways to outsource work to those who are professionals in their respective fields and will work to give you above par results – wherever they live.

There are a variety of tasks that you can outsource in your online business and we’re going to discuss those later in the course, but for now start thinking about everything you do in your business. Do you handle it all yourself?

If so, you’re working yourself way too hard. Or as Rich Schefren says “You’re working for a lunatic”.

Stop spinning your wheels and stop living for your business. If you’re feeling overworked and underpaid, then you need to sit down with your boss (yourself) and give yourself a good talking to.

Believe it or not, those who do every single thing in their business are actually stalling their business from growth. It’s time to create a lucrative business without working yourself so hard.

Stick around and I’ll show you how.

Next week, we’ll cover… “The Benefits of Outsourcing”

So until next week, take care.

Take 5 Minutes To Do This And Save 10 Minutes Per Day, Every Day

According to Wiki Answers we each spend between 1 and 4 years on the toilet during our lifetimes.

I have to say this doesn’t bother me particularly and that’s good because there’s probably not a lot I could do about it if did.
However, what does bother me is wasted time whilst sat at my computer working.

Whether you are making your living online or in a regular job we all know that there are many inefficiencies that just basically waste our time.

Recently been having a “regroup” in my business and one of the things I’ve been looking at is how I can identify and remove some of these bad habits and practices to increase my productivity.

One of these in particular I think applies to all of us and that is keeping track of usernames and passwords for different websites.
For me, this problem has grown continually since I started online in 2010 and I now probably have 80+ different account logins to keep track of.

Hosting accounts, WordPress logins, bank accounts, utility bills, C-Panel logins, training products I’ve purchased, social media services, internet marketing services I subscribe to, the list goes on and on!

My Old System

Whilst my browser helpfully remembers a lot of the logins this isn’t a universal solution as often I use different browsers (for testing) and also login on different computers.

So for years I had a password protected Word file which contained the URLs, usernames and passwords for my accounts.

In the last 12 months I would say that I’ve opened this file and looked up the login details I need at least 10 times per day. What a complete waste of time!

My New System

I’ve started using a system called LastPass.

The name is based upon the idea that your password for this system will be the last one you’ll ever need to remember. It’s free to use as well which is always good.

The login details are stored in encrypted format on their servers which means that they are totally safe (seriously, no one can see them except you). Plus you can use the system on any computer you like which is really good for me when I move between my desktop and laptop.

There have been many blog posts written about how you can increase your productivity but it seems to me that storing our username and passwords is something that most of us waste time with so I hope you find this resource useful.

If you are worried about security then I can tell you I felt exactly the same but the encryption and decryption is done on your local computer and not on the web.

In addition, Last Pass had been established for a long time now so you really can have peace of mind when using it.

Why not give it a try as I have done? Let me know what you think of this and any other productivity boosting ideas that you have found to work by emailing me at [email protected] and if used I will pass them on to all your fellow subscribers and give you credit by name for suggesting them.

Hope you find this useful, cheers Mike

Starting Point Weekly Newsletter issue 1

     Starting Point Weekly

Hello and welcome to the first of my weekly newsletters. My name is Mike Rylance and I have spent the last few years studying what it takes to make money online. Before we go on I would like to add I am not a guru, but I have several websites of my own and know you can make a good living online by following a few simple step by step techniques that I intend to share with you over the coming weeks and months.

It is my intention to research all the popular products out there every week and buy any I think will benefit you.  I will then research them and, if and only if, I think they will be of benefit to you, I will recommend them to you so the risk is mine and not yours.

Rest assured I have your best interests at heart, I will not recommend rubbish to you as you will simply unsubscribe from my newsletter and I would not blame you. The world is full of marketers who pretend to be your friend, when really a quick buck is all they are interested in.

I can assure you I am different, I make a reasonable living and do not need to take advantage of you. I genuinely want to help you make a good start making money online, which is why I have started this newsletter.

I will never, hand on heart, tell you to buy anything I have not bought or created myself and fully reviewed to see if it will be of benefit to you. I know it can be overwhelming all the different ways of making money online but trust me I will help you find the best way through it all, so just sit back and let me do all the hard work for you and take all the risk.

This newsletter is designed to be interesting and readable and give useful information to help you on your journey to internet marketing success. It will give useful and free information and video training about how to make a living online along with some product reviews that I think will help you on that road to success.

So just sit back and enjoy. If you can think of anything that should be included in the newsletter that will increase its usefulness please email me and I will see what I can do because I want to make this as much your newsletter as my own.

The first thing we must establish is the belief that this can be done, because without that unfortunately you are beat at the first hurdle.

In Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll wrote “Sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

Today, I don’t know if you’ve had your breakfast or not yet, but I certainly don’t want you to believe six impossible things. Just one will do to start with.

The one impossible thing that I want you to believe today – and I really mean BELIEVE it with every ounce of your being – is that you CAN.

You CAN achieve success.

You CAN do anything that you WANT to do.

You CAN … fill in your own blank!

With that fundamental belief, anything that is physically possible is within your range. At times, even disability isn’t a barrier if you have sufficient belief.

I read last month about a young man who was a successful mountain climber. He had a fall and trapped his arm between two rocks.

He had a choice that most of us couldn’t imagine having to take – he could hang there until he died, or he could cut off his own arm. He chose to live. But that horrific tale isn’t the end of it.

He could easily have decided that without an arm, his mountain climbing days were over, but not this guy. He has the fire of ‘I Can’ burning like a torch inside of him.

He now has a prosthetic arm, shaped like a pirate’s hook and he is back climbing mountains like he never left off. His story was so inspiring they made a film about it called 127 Hours as I am sure most of you will know.

You don’t need to cut off your own arm to prove that you can climb mountains – and we all have different mountains to tackle in any case. What you do need is an absolute, unshakeable certainty that you CAN climb it.

When you KNOW that you CAN, actually doing it doesn’t seem so hard after all.

What is difficult is knowing where to start, as there is so much information out there and it’s so easy to become confused or to fall for the B.S. of the instant riches brigade. I have been there too and spent a fortune on every get rich quick scheme I could get my hands on.

But as soon as I hit a problem there was nowhere to turn, so I spent more money and tried something else, needed help and couldn`t get any then gave up and spent more money, sound familiar?

I want to be honest and open with you right from the start, I will be promoting products when I come across any that I think will genuinely help you and are of good quality and from marketers of integrity, hey we all have to make a living, but of course you are under no obligation to buy anything ever, if you don`t want to.
However they will all contain the information you need to help you make money online, I will never promote products unless they are of good quality as I want to earn your trust.

But if you are serious about making a living online like everything else you will need the information to do it and unless you already have it, you will need to acquire it from somewhere. It is my intention to sort out the wheat from the chaff for you to save you from wasting your hard earned cash and provide as many free resources as possible.

     A-Z Of Internet Marketing
For those of you new to internet marketing I am starting this weekly section to explain some of the terms used in internet marketing to help you understand how the business works and what you will need to start your online business, along with the weekly training videos. So without further ado let’s get started.

A is for autoresponder

Lots of people talk about autoresponders and how you can use them to grow your business online. But what actually is an autoresponder?

Quite simply, it’s a piece of software that enables you to send emails to people automatically. What you can do is set up a sequence of prewritten emails that are sent out to prospects on your database at regular intervals.

The importance of this cannot be underestimated. Time and time again internet marketing gurus tell you that the money is in the list. This is not by accident. The online marketing specialists know that this is fact. The more people you have on a mailing list that are interested in your products or services, the more sales you will make.

What you do is you create, let’s say, a seven part email course. Then you can set the intervals for the emails to, say, once a day and send them one part of the course each day. So you write the emails and then anyone joining that list will automatically be sent those emails for the next seven days.

This doesn’t matter if you’re online or if you’re away from the computer. They will get sent automatically. They also get added to the list automatically. And if they choose to unsubscribe, all of that is taken care of without you having to lift a finger.

The main benefit to using an autoresponder is connected to the fact that the majority of people need to be told about a product seven times before they buy it. So I want to ask you, how many times are you telling your visitors about your product?

Chances are it’s less than seven. Research has shown it takes on average 7 contacts with your potential customers before they will buy from you the first time.

They’ll land on your homepage or somewhere else on your website and they’ll look at your offering, but the majority of your sites visitors will disappear. So unless you can get them onto an opt-in mailing list, either a course or free information that is of multi-part format, the chances are you will have lost them forever.

You can use an autoresponder to send these messages out to people with their permission convincing them and educating them about your product.

This is simply a form of permission marketing. People will give you their permission to receive emails in return for you giving them free, quality information. Do not load the messages with over-hyped sales pitches, but give them real quality information with a small mention about your product at the end.

What you’ll find is that people come to know you and grow to trust you over time as you send them more and more information. The longer you can maintain this relationship with them, the more likely they are to actually buy from you.

The beauty of this is that using an autoresponder saves you the costs of printing, posting and packaging and enables you to contact and keep in touch with all your prospects around the clock without actually having to do anything. There are many autoresponder companies out there some free and some paid.

But from my experience if you are serious about your business you want the best which for me is hands down Aweber. But you do not need one until you have put everything else in place first, which we will talk about at a later date as I do not wish to overload you with information.

You can start without an autoresponder, without your own product and even without your own website, but I will go into that more in the coming weeks and give you more free resources to show you how.

     This Week’s Quick Tip

Take a ten minutes break, right now. Plan your day on paper. Make yourself a list of everything you would like to achieve today. That’s right, everything.

Now, get two coloured highlighter pens and mark all the tasks that will take more than half an hour, and all those that will take less.

Set your own priorities for the jobs, but make sure you complete at least two short ones for every long one.

For every long job crossed off the list or two short ones, give yourself a small reward, a five minute break, a square of chocolate, a cup of coffee. You choose.

Now watch as your busy schedule starts to make more sense.

Welcome to the wonderful world of time management.

3 useful tips to manage your time better

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Time Management

If you are serious about your business and you ought to be, you need to manage your time better. If you have a full time job I know it`s hard to get motivated after a hard day at work, you just want to crash down on the sofa and watch tv and relax not spend time on your computer working.

Well this is what separates the men from the boys so to speak. Unless you make a commitment to change your life and stick to it nothing will ever change, think of it this way, the work you do today is to make sure you don`t have to work tomorrow.

You can still live your life and build your business as well, here are a few tips to help you manage your time better.

1) Try to find a spare room if you have one or at least a quiet corner that is free from distraction to work in.

2) Set yourself specific hours to work in. If you only work when you think you have the time you will always find some reason why you are too busy, but by setting say one or two hours per evening and sticking to it you will get far more work done.

3) Focus on one task at a time and follow it through to completion. Jumping from one task to another without finishing any is very counter- productive as you keep having to catch up with where you were up to on each task before you can get started again.

Without following these methods you will find it almost impossible to succeed online. Put them into action today and see the difference they make.

To your continued success

Some useful ways to get the best use from your time.
Stop wasting time when working on your pc

What is the biggest time waster that stops you working on your pc

Well you won`t be surprised to learn its checking and dealing with emails. You need to learn to control your urge to constantly be checking them and to create a more efficient system for managing them.

One way of doing this is to create a new email address specifically for any emails you get from marketers when you sign up for free reports etc.

Then separate all the marketers individually by name, setting up a separate folder for each, now if you want to find anything you only need to check by looking in that marketers folder.

Then click on the link at the bottom of each marketers emails and change your email address over to the new one or unsubscribe to any you no longer think are of any benefit to you.

You can also send any to your spam folder that keep on sending them to your old email address. You now have your personal emails from your family friends etc separate where it will only take a few minutes to check them each time you feel the need.

The marketers emails just check every few days or better still weekly and that should probably save you a good hour a day if you are on several marketers email lists.

Hope this helps you become more productive.

To your continued success
